People said Diablo was born with fire in his eyes. A towering black stallion, muscles rippling beneath his glossy coat, he was breathtaking—but something always felt… off. The stable hands whispered stories about his temper. One claimed he saw Diablo stomp a wild fox to death. Another said the horse wouldn’t let anyone but his owner, Duke, come close.
Duke swore the stories were nonsense. “He’s just spirited,” he’d chuckle. “You have to earn his respect.”
But one stormy night, everything changed.
It started with screams. By the time others reached the stable, it was too late. Duke was lying in the straw—what was left of him. The scene was brutal. Diablo’s mouth dripped red, his eyes wild. He didn’t bolt. He didn’t back down. He stood guard over the body like he was proud.
An investigation followed, but the horror was undeniable: the horse had attacked unprovoked and delivered fatal bites—something horses rarely, if ever, do.
Experts tried to explain it away. Trauma? A neurological condition? A long-buried trigger? But no one could answer the real question:
Why would a horse devour the man who raised him?
Diablo was put down shortly after, but the tale didn’t die. Some say his ghost still stalks the stables, that when the wind howls just right, you can hear hooves pacing and a low, unholy snort in the dark.
Was it madness? Possession? Or had something far darker been hiding behind Diablo’s eyes all along?
